Why records organisation matters
One sheet that tells anyone where everything is
When the people who follow you need to find a document in a hurry, a well-kept index removes the need to search every drawer.
Prepared at a calm moment, not a difficult one
Putting records in order is easier when there is no urgency. Cedar Ledger sessions are unhurried and can be returned to gradually.
Scope that stays within education
Nothing here is personalised advice. Every substantive question is referred to an appropriately qualified professional by category.
Cited retention guidance, not opinion
Retention periods are taken from published sources and presented with their citations, so you can verify and update them yourself.
Multi-generational and institutional experience
From personal household files to family office architecture spanning multiple entities, Cedar Ledger works across the full range of complexity.
Digital records included, not as an afterthought
Password custody, digital account inventories and repository specifications are covered in every programme, not treated as optional extras.

F — FREQUENTLY ASKED
Questions people usually ask first
What exactly does Cedar Ledger teach?
Cedar Ledger provides education in records organisation: how to build an index of household or institutional documents, how long papers are ordinarily kept, how to store originals safely, and how to set up a coherent documentary architecture for a family office. We do not provide legal, financial or estate-planning advice.
Is this the same as making a will or setting up a trust?
No. Cedar Ledger covers only records location, description and retention — administrative facts about where things are, not ownership or entitlement. A solicitor or estate planner is the right person for a will, trust or any question about who receives what. We can refer you by category of question.
How long does the Document Index Session take?
The session runs ninety minutes. It is available for groups of up to fifteen or as a private delivery. You leave with an index template, a retention chart and a referral sheet — materials you can work with at your own pace afterwards.
What does the eight-week programme cover?
The Estate Records Preparation Programme meets for two hours each week over eight weeks. It covers document indexing, property and account records held as administrative facts, photographic inventories, digital account inventories, a letter of practical instruction on non-substantive matters, digital records and password custody, and a closing structural review. Participants are reminded throughout that the file's substantive content must be prepared with a qualified professional.
What does the family office consulting engagement include?
The engagement covers records architecture, systems and training only. It expressly excludes structuring, administration, valuation or any regulated activity. Over seven to eleven months, we deliver a records survey, classification schema, digital repository specification, physical storage plan, records governance charter, staff and family training across six days, an annual review calendar, and a closing architecture report.
What do sessions cost and how is payment made?
The Document Index Session is RM 495 per person. The Estate Records Preparation Programme is RM 2,080 per participant. The Family Office Records Architecture engagement is RM 4,350. Payment details are confirmed at enquiry stage. Contact us to ask about group arrangements for the session.
